All to easy for Fedor!

Well there you have it. It only took Fedor seconds to put this one to bed! After circling each other a couple of times Fedor let fly with a barrage of punches that rocked Sylvia and sunk in the hooks to roll Tim flat out and gave him the opportunity to rear naked choke the former UFC Champ! It still hurts saying that! That’s all that can be said really no post mortem will find anything that was not already well known before the bout! There was alot of people pegging Tim for this come on get real!

The fight does pose some interesting questions.

Is this the end of Tim and also the prospect of Randy Couture and Fedor in the near future? If Fedor gets past Arlovski this could be unreal! UFC watch your back! I prefer the MMA fights in the ring to it seems more authentic or something!

Who would win-Fedor vs Tim Sylvia?

A number of months ago I wrote a post about who wolud win between Fedor and Tim Sylvia, at the time I just dismissed it as Fedor but now that a few months have past and after some steady comments on the blog I have to rethink my decision. Fedor has not a had a top class oposition for a couple of years now. His last fight was a against Hong Man Choi and he won with a submission armbar.

Funnily enough this is how I imagine the fight going between Tim and Fedor. However Tim can be unassuming at the best of times and he has got a stiff jab and his reach advantage is massive! But the sheer brawling standup nature of Fedor could be to much, I mean he took 7 foot Choi down it should be easier to take a 6 foot 8 Sylvia down.

Does Tim fear Fedor?

I saw a recent interview where he complimented the heavyweight and saoid vaguely this was  agood matchup? Does he really believe this? I dont think so. His fighting a guy with a record of 271 - 0, who looks mean as hell and has not been tested in quite a while. Im still pegging Fedor for this via submission but in the world of MMA stranger things have happened! See the comments below from previous post for some thought It does look like Fedor! Mass contingency!

Heres a nice pic of Tim! He looks tough!

Not even a discussion point. Fedor would destroy Tim Sylvia. I just realised how stupid this post was when I  wrote the title!

  1. no doubt about it boyo.

  2. Glad you realised it in time!

Fedor could make him eat that stupid belt with one hand tied around his back. And then make him shave off that stupid demi-beard. And make him eat that, too.

Ok, just so I don’t sound like a raving fanboy:

Chances are very high that Fedor would defeat Sylvia easily. However, stranger things have happened… (not usually around Fedor though.)

  3. it would be a damn good fight. people underestimate Silvia way to much. i see them slugging it out for a couple of rounds before Fedor destroys him.

  4. Are you kidding Connor. It won’t got past the first round. Fedor will rape Tim in every possible position. Tim doesn’t have a chance against any of Prides Heavy Weights.

  5. Touche, O-Canada, I cant wait to see Tim cry. Its about time he was exposed like Matt Hughes. Matt Hughes calls himself a well rounded fighter he didnt look well rounded for two rounds against an unfit BJ Penn and was made look like an ameteur by GSP. It seems Matt and Tim are holding reservations about themselves but then again what do you expect their American MMA fighters. Most of them would be crushed by the Pride elite.

  6. to many ppl underestimate sylvia , let fedor fight arlovski first ! then call the maniac a loser, but until then let him have his glory as champ.

  7. Silvia has quite a reach advantage and it would give Fedor some problems. The only way to know for sure is if they fought and until that happens all speculation is just that…speculation. If PRIDE is available for purchase, this match up may happen sooner than any of us think…Hell the UFC just bought up WFA and is looking to buy WEC and make WEC the developmental circuit.

  8. Oh geez, yeah of course. Tim actually almost beat Big Nog (one of the Pride elite), but of course Fedor DOMINATED Nog in every single range. It even rendered Bas and Randy speechless at times. They didn’t want to blink and neither did I. Fedor can almost certainly close that distance problem better than Nog could, but that reach advantage is not totally moot. Once it’s on the ground the game is over.Fedor in 1st round submission by armbar. I will watch this fight, but only to witness true genius at work at long last again. It’s like seeing Michael Jordan win a dunking contest in 1988.

  9. Fedor is # 1,there is no doubt he is gonna win!

K1 better than UFC?

While on holidays in Spain the television in our apartment only had three channels CNN, Sky News and Eurosport. I chose Eurosport as my channel of choice one night as I was sick of current affairs and stock prices but what I watched blew me away. Im a UFC fan firstly but after watching the K1 World Gran Prix in Las Vegas I was really impressed. The fights unreal, the fans brilliant, the drama (buckets of it!) and the overall presentation of the event was top notch.

The most recent UFC was disappointing to say the least except for the terrific display of martial ability shown by Anderson Silva a.k.a Bruce Lee but by god Tim Sylvia made me cringe each passing second I had to focus my eyes on his lethargic massive frame stunting an excellent thai boxer against the fence and pot shotting his way to another rather boring installment of Dim Tim in the Octagon ring!

K1 HOWEVER was excellent. The fights were Muay thai and boxing. The fighters exteremly athletic and technically skilled standing up. The eurosport commentator was immense and I thougtht Joe Rogan and Buffer were eccentric. This guy had a saying for every punch in the fight. All mI could think watching was this is my world this is exactly how would like to fight if I was a fighter.

The drama on the night was that of upsets at the Bellagio as long shot reserve fighter Doug Viney boxed his way to the 2007 World Grand Prix in Las Vegas championship. In a veritable jackpot for the book makers, one after another favored fighters went down in defeat, and at the end of the night it was the man that hadn’t even had odds posted that went home with the trophy.

They showed a Top 10 knockouts after the event and they were all brilliant.

 10 out of 10 for K-1.

As for UFC I cant help but feel the honeymoon period is over. With the big stars dwindling and the rise of Tim again and the sighning of Brock Lesner???????? The reputable UFC seems to taking a different course. And Bispings decision over Hamill in UFC in England just furthers my suspicions that UFC is run like a business even some fighters fight  fights in a business manner for a win. Nothing at all wrong with that at all as they play to their strong points like wrestling or keeping a guy down to secure a win but It would have me looking at the Argos catalogue on the table in a couple of minutes or that picture that I never really noticed on the wall.  I do respect that side of UFC and know its paramount for an MMA fighter but I do also know that K-1 had me shouting laughing and cringing from start to finish and the fighters were tecnically outstanding!

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is the man with a plan!

The following  is taken from the  Rampage’ looks to strike it rich Mixed martial arts: Recent UFC addition makes debut Saturday.

 Miguel Lopez, Staff writer

“Fighting in the Octagon is not going to affect me in any way,” said Jackson, who will fight in the U.S. for only the second        time since 2002. “I could fight in a phone booth or in a bathtub; it doesn’t matter where you fight. If you are a good fighter it doesn’t matter where it happens.”

You gotta love his authenicity and humour. What an addition to the UFC! This guy oozes confidence but at the same time is a real trickster and treats every reporter like his best friend. And in another interview I rememver him sayin his just here to do is thing and he wants to get in in the Octagon whilst putting out a bet with Chuck that if he loses to him he wont wear his chain for 2 fights or if Chuck loses he has to shave his mohawk! He even wants to get tshirts with when I am gonna fight Chuck!

Well his not lacking audacity thats for sure and watching his Pride 2003 bout with Chuck his a big tough son of a bitch that traded with Chuck with no problem and also his slams are just god damn outrageous.

I cant wait to see him fight!
